CNN —17-year-old Real Madrid-bound sensation Endrick has earned a milestone call up to the senior Brazil men’s national team. Interim Canarinha head coach Fernando Diniz announced his squad on Monday for Brazil’s 2026 World Cup qualifier later this month and revealed that the uncapped Endrick will feature in the national team for the first time. In doing so, the Palmeiras breakout star became the youngest player to get a senior Seleção call-up since iconic striker Ronaldo Nazario in 1994. Ronaldo – nicknamed O Fenômeno – is considered one of the greatest soccer players of all time and won the World Cup twice with Brazil. CNN —Brazil forward Antony was dropped from the national team on Monday following allegations of abuse by a former girlfriend, according to the Brazilian football confederation (CBF). The Manchester United player is being investigated by the Sao Paulo Police and the Greater Manchester Police for domestic violence against his former partner Gabriela Cavallin, Brazilian news outlet UOL reported. According to UOL, Cavallin alleges that among other things, the 23-year-old Antony threatened to throw her out of a vehicle while driving at a high speed. Antony will miss Brazil’s World Cup qualifying games against Bolivia and Peru as a result of being dropped from the national team. In his career, Antony has made 16 appearances for the national team, scoring two goals.

BARCELONA, June 15 (Reuters) - Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr will lead a special FIFA anti-racism committee made up of players who will suggest stricter punishments for discriminatory behaviour in football, president Gianni Infantino told Reuters on Thursday. Infantino told Reuters that as well as applying disciplinary and competition punishments, FIFA will also pursue legal action against abusers in countries where racism happens in football matches. "I asked Vinicius to lead this group of players that will present stricter punishments against racism that will later be implemented by all football authorities around the world. "We will implement very blunt and strong punishments to end once and for all with the problem of racism in football. "We need to stop the games, apply disciplinary and competitive measures and all of it needs to be coordinated with local authorities and governments.

BARCELONA, Jan 20 (Reuters) - A Spanish judge on Friday ordered that Brazil soccer player Dani Alves be jailed on remand without bail over an alleged sexual assault of a woman in a Barcelona nightclub, the regional court system said. Earlier on Friday, Alves appeared before a Barcelona judge after local police detained and questioned him. The alleged victim had filed a complaint earlier this month and the case remains open over a crime of sexual assault, Catalonia's court system said in a statement. Alves told Antena 3 TV earlier this month that he was at the club with other people but denied any such behaviour. Alves played for Barcelona from 2008-2016 and briefly returned to the LaLiga team for the 2021-22 season.
